Digital Symposium: Exploring Responsible Gambling – Insights from Industry Leaders

Join industry experts in a dynamic workshop to explore the development and evolution of responsible gambling practices and the crucial role research plays in guiding these policies. Speakers will discuss the shift toward proactive approaches, state-specific frameworks, and the innovative programs that have changed how we look at safer gambling practices. Participants will gain valuable insights into player engagement techniques, early markers of harm, and the public health benefits of working through the lens of safer gambling. Attendees will deepen their understanding of gambling regulation and acquire practical strategies in promoting responsible gambling.

  • Summarize the evolution of responsible gambling practices.
  • Describe some of the tools utilized for responsible gambling.
  • Explore the ways in which operators are utilizing responsible gambling tools.

30-Hour Basic Training for Problem Gambling (Day 1)
Oct 11 @ 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

An online, live, 4-day training for gambling disorder will be hosted by OAPGG on October 11 and 18 and November 1 and 8, 2024, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (CT) each day. This evidence-based basic training course is designed to help counselors, peer support specialists, and others in understanding gambling disorder.

Registration is free for those in the Midwest Conference on Problem Gambling and Substance Abuse region (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma), with funding from the Kansas City Port Authority Problem Gambling Fund Advisory Committee.

For those outside the MCPGSA region, registration is $300.

Participants who complete the training will receive 30 hours of CEUs and will be eligible to join a free case consultation.

Digital Symposium: Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity in Problem Gambling & Responsible Gambling

Cultural awareness and sensitivity play a crucial role in addressing and treating problem gambling. Join problem gambling treatment and prevention experts as they share their experiences with awareness, education, data collection, and intervention designed to increase effectiveness and inclusivity mitigating gambling-related harm. During the presentation, experts will also discuss the increased use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the gambling industry and how AI tools can impact individual populations.

  • Understand the importance of cultural awareness and sensitivity in addressing problem gambling.
  • Discuss the value of community engagement for assessment as it relates to diverse populations.
